I am currently on a plane flying back to Heathrow. As I said in a previous post, I was so impressed with the All England Tour PT I, that I signed up for the Part II trip the second day! And the sites we will be visiting are a dream come true for me, as I have been studying Elizabethan embroidery for so long. We will be visiting Hardwick Hall (the home of the Countess of Shrewsbury, jailor and embroidery partner of Mary, Queen of Scots), Burghley House, Knole House, Blickling Hall, Oxburgh Hall, and more. We will be starting in York, then going to Stamford, Lavenham, and finally ending up back at Langshott Manor in Horley, where the last tour ended up. All these places are sites I've read about and had wanted to see, but would have been very difficult to travel to on my own. I'm not brave enough to attempt to drive anywhere in the United Kingdom. The roads are much too narrow, and there are no shoulders. On most roads the hedges come right up to the edge of the road!
To get over my jet lag, I'm going to meet my dear friend Marie Robertson in London, who is flying over from Belfast. We are planning on seeing a lot of museums, and having a lot of fun. We even managed to get tickets to see Hamilton!!! I can't wait!!
